For Jess’s bridal makeup trial, the goal was to create a look that felt elevated, natural, and completely her.

As a fair redhead, Jess had been nervous — in the past, makeup artists often left her looking orange or not quite like herself. Using my knowledge of color theory, we embraced cool tones to complement her skin beautifully. Jess has gorgeous large eyes, so we kept them as the focal point with a soft, cool brown smoky winged liner to define and lift without overpowering.

Since she doesn’t wear much makeup day-to-day, it was important to keep the look fresh and lightweight. We used a green color corrector to neutralize redness, allowing for a light-medium coverage foundation that kept her skin looking natural and radiant. Most of the coverage was focused under the eyes for a perfected, brightened finish, while letting her natural beauty shine through.

Instead of a warm bronzer, I used a cool-toned contour to softly sculpt the face, paired with blush draping to bring life and shape to the cheeks. We layered two blushes — one neutral and one soft, cool pink — for the perfect pop of color. For her brows, we kept them fluffy and natural using a micro pencil to create hair-like strokes.

We finished the look with brown mascara and brown individual lashes to add soft drama without harshness. The eyeshadow was kept matte for a timeless feel, with a subtle inner corner shimmer that caught the light beautifully with every movement.
